While most of the church goers are from Djibouti, as is to be expected, we also have some Somali Christians ( they do exist) and Arab Christians among us. We have a handful of Ethiopian Christians at our church. Even though we’re a Christian establishment, some of my fellow Djibouti have issues with the Ethiopians. Why? Let’s just say that there is a long story of conflict between the Ethiopians and those of us who live in places like the Republic of Djibouti and Somalia. Ethiopians don’t like us one bit. And honestly, we don’t much care for them. The frightening thing about it is that a lot of Djibouti folk and Somalians maintain their antagonistic stance toward Ethiopians even though we live in Canada, a land where we’re all outsiders. That’s a crying shame because we’re geopolitical neighbors and if we got along better, life might be easier for us, both in Canada and back home. Anyhow, one Sunday morning, I went to church and Pastor Ben-Hassan was preaching the Gospel of Jesus. ಗೀತಾ ತುಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಸ ಬರಲು ಶುರುವಾಯಿತು. ಲತಾ ಬೆರಳು ಗೀತಾ ರಸದಿಂದ ಅಂಟಂಟಾಯಿತು.‘ಏನೇಲೇ ಲೌಡಿ, ಇಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ಕಕ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡೆ’ ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಗೀತಾ ತುಲ್ಲಿನ ರಸದಿಂದ ಒದ್ದೆಯಾದ ಬೆರಳನ್ನು ಅವಳ ಬಾಯಿಗೇ ಒರೆಸಿದಳು. ಗೀತ ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಪಚ ಪಚ ಚೀಪಿದಳು. ಗೀತಾನ ತುಲ್ಲು ರಸ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅವಳ ಶಾಟವೆಲ್ಲ ಒದ್ದೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಗೀತಾ ಎದ್ದು ನಿಂತು ಬಾರೋಲೋ ನಿಮ್ಮತ್ತಿಗೆಯನ್ನ ಜಡಿ ಎಂದು ತನ್ನ ಗಂಡನನ್ನು ಕರೆದಳು. ಸುರೇಶ ಬಂದ. ಅತ್ತಿಗೆಯ ತುಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ತುಣ್ಣಿ ಹೆಟ್ಟಿದ. ಲತಾ ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗೆ ಅವನ ತಿಕಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊಲೆ ಉಜ್ಜಾಡಿದಳು. ಅವನ ತಿಕದ ಸಂದಿಗೆ ಬೆರಳು ಹಾಕಿ ‘ನೀನು ನಿಮ್ಮತ್ತಿಗೆನ ಜಡಿ, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ತಿಕ ಹೊಡೀತೇನೆ’ ಅಂದಳು. ಗಚಕಾ ಪಚಕಾ ದಪ್ ದಪ್ ಸದ್ದು ಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಮೈದುನನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ನಲುಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಗೀತಾ ‘ಇನ್ನೂ ಜೋರಾಗಿ ಜಡಿಯೋ ಸೂಳೆ ಮಗನೇ. ಅಮ್ಮಾ, ಅಮ್ಮಾ. ನಿನ್ನ ತರಡು ನನ್ನ ತುಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕು ಹಾಗೆ ಜಡಿ’ ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.‘ಲೇ ಅತ್ತಿಗೆ ನನ್ನದು ಕತ್ತೆ ತುಣ್ಣಿ ಕಣೇ. ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡನ ಎದುರಿಗೇ ನೀನು ಹೇತು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಜಡೀತೀನಿ’ ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಎತ್ತಿ ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಾಕಿದ. ತುಣ್ಣಿಯನ್ನು ಅತ್ತಿಗೆಯ ತುಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರುಬ್ಬಿದ. ‘ಅಣ್ಣಾ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಸಕತ್ ಹಾಟು ಕಣೋ’ ಅನ್ನುತಾ ಜಡಿದ. ಅವನ ಮೈ ಬೆವರು ಗೀತಾನ ಬೆವರಿನೊಡನೆ ಸೇರಿ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯೆಲ್ಲ ಒದ್ದೆಯಾಯಿತು. ಗೀತಾನ ಎರಡೂ ಕಾಲು ಭುಜದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವಳ ಮೊಳಕಾಲು ಮೊಲೆಗೆ.
